Bradford Textiles Society Competition

Here is a flash of 2 drawing sheets which are the beginnings of a new project.  My concept initially started off looking at straight and curved things as found in Georgian artefacts and architecture, juxtaposed with lace or lace like structures.  The inspiration for this idea has come from Mix Magazine's 'Tender' trend.  I need to source more visual research material  before I continue.  I have a disjointed week ahead so I have decided to put the drawing board away and spend some time clarifying and formulating my concept.  I will put my concept board up once I have referenced the images that appear on it.

  2. Thanks Chris. Hope all is well with you. The MIMA lecture sounds like it was well worth braving the snow for. I wonder if you are doing any design work?

  3. No design work, bar a variation on a heart theme for Valentine's Day!!!! (not for me!!!!)
This course is very interesting but very time consuming too (VERY dense art critics ughhh). However, even if I don't necessarily like some of the art I am studying at least I understand a little bit better what it is about and where it was coming from!!!!Embroiled in an essay on the split between Modernism and MInimalism/Post Modernism at the moment!!!! Only one more and an extended essay (probably on The Angel of the North/Gormely and Moore's Public/civic Harlow Family)then I can play at design again!!!

Love your new theme, you should find extra inspiration from that Georgian house that is near you in York.....:-)

  4. Yes, Fairfax House I think you mean. The course sounds very heavy duty. Good luck with it all.

  5. That's the one!!! It is (gestural, specificity, autonomy, specificity, are some of the simpler terms and combined with word alterations, extra long sentences and opaque arguments/debates it takes some getting your head around!!!!).........and thanx I need it ...only a 1000 words left to go!!!!!!
